Placerville - Roads Without Cars

June 22nd, 2005

These mountains were our view for most of the ascent.

We hooked up with a few friends to ride in the Sierra foothills. We rode up the Emigrant Trail which is closed due to snow at the summit. This gave us the chance to ride in a beautiful area with little traffic. Thom came along as the official SAG guy, as there are no services on this normally 21 mile climb.  More photos by clicking on the one above.

Mt. Tam, mountain bikes and a broken arm.

June 10th, 2005

Taking a break early in the day.

Mt. Tam in Marin county is the home of mountain biking. We finally made it over there and spent the day riding with friends. The ride was great, if a little warm. Just 800 feet from the bottom of the last big descent, Thom dumped his bike - banging his arm pretty badly. The ranger shuttled Thom back to the car. The X-ray says “broken”.

That's what we call a "broken arm". Not too serious, just a real pain in the - arm.
