I put a lot of pressure on myself this season to see some significant improvement and it just wasn’t happening in my races; I’d see awesome times in training but would [...]

Ebbetts Pass (Metric) Century

Although it is very late in the cycling “season” here, we are finally getting in some good rides. It has been quite a while since we rode regularly, so we don’t really know what kind of cycling shape we are in. Naturally, we picked a 64 mile ride with about 8,000 feet of climbing, at [...]

The Wall

We’re lucky to have a great Regional Park nearby – Black Diamond Mines. It is an awesome place to mountain bike with great trails and spectacular views of Mt Diablo and the Delta. There is one section called “The Wall” that is really tough to get up. It rises up about 600 feet in just [...]

Why do I do this again?

“Everyone else looks like they are having fun. You look totally freaked and stressed,” Thom said as we were waiting for my swim wave to start at the beginning of my race. I have been dealing with chest congestion, stuffy nose and a mild sore throat which I was attributing to post nasal drip – the last couple of weeks. I figured it was allergy related and [...]

Angels Camp Triathlon

The Sierra Foothills are so beautiful, but the weather is sort of iffy in May. The week before this race we had a week of real May weather – temps in the high 70s, low 80s. I like racing when it’s on the warm side.

On a more somber note, we also visited some of the war memorials on The Mall.
As always, click on the photos for more pictures.

Most of the year this doesn’t matter, but in the Spring all the trees bloom at the same time. Well, almost at the same time.
