See Jane Tri
Sometimes I really think I must be crazy. Who else, other than an insane person, would subject themselves to the tortures of a triathlon? And keep going back for more?

Wow! I knew I would finish, but it was tough! I went into this race knowing how under-trained I was and knowing I would have to play the mental game. A Half Ironman is a LONG race – a 1.2 mile swim, 56.2 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run and it wound up being my first race of the season. Due to unforeseen events I went into it without having done any bricks, having swum only 3,800 yards and ridden 556 miles on my bike since January and my longest run back in May was seven miles. So… I had a plan: swim easy, bike moderately, run what you can and take a big “Suck It Up” pill.

On September 27 I raced in the See Jane Run Triathlon. I picked this triathlon because the course was very similar to my very first race in June and I wanted to see how much I had improved over the summer. (more…)
My donation page for this race was called “How hard can it be?” Now I have the answer – Wicked, wicked hard! I have found it mentally tougher to complete some double centuries, but physically this was extremely challenging. A big “Thank You!” to everyone who donated. I raised $595 for local cancer charities.
My second triathlon was an Olympic Distance event – the Tri for Real at Rancho Seco Park and I finished second in my division! (more…)
